Small World

Some friends of ours, Ed Torrance and Cathy (Alison) Torrance grew up in Azusa and Covina California, about the same time my family lived there (long before I was born). Ed is good friends with Leon Marx’s son Steve. My father Marv and Leon Marx served together in church when my family lived in Azusa. Chances are that my family would not have known Ed Torrance, I think they joined the church in the 80’s.

Update

I spoke on the phone last night with Deloris Ramon. She has a number of fabulous items to contribute including photographs (John Henry John Roper, Charlotte Elizabeth Mellor Roper, her Grandfather James Leo, photos of the Roper cabin in Lawrence), a land deed to James Leo Roper from John Henry Roper, and much more. Look for these items slowly appearing in the near future.

I also received an email from Charles Carter, webmaster of the Carterville. He’s looking for Richard Henrie Morley to get permission to post Richard’s thesis “The Life & Contributions of Isaac Morley.” Anyone with suggestions please comment below.

Terry also forwarded a nice message from Randall Roper, expressing appreciation for sharing Oather’s “Susannah Smith Roper” history.

Bodily Family Chat

Jim Nielson of the Bodily MyFamily.com website has invited Robert Bodily descendants and relatives to join a chat Sunday, February 8, 2004  7:00 PM  Mountain Time.

“Let’s try the chat feature of our family site. Spread the word. Be patient and keep trying, we have never done this before.” – Jim Nielson

Update: Jim, LuAnn and I chatted, I was on the phone for most of it and didn’t get to converse much. It was fun though. Jim and LuAnn are very knowledgeable about the bodily family, I look forward to future chats.

Joseph Benson Roper History

We have been unable to find a complete history of Joseph Benson Roper as he died in 1910 before many of his grandchildren were old enough to get interested in gathering histories and before the Saints became genealogy conscious. Another sad but true fact is that all of Joseph Benson’s and Hannah Elizabeth’s papers and belongings were burned in a fire leaving hardly anything to glean a history from. What we have has been extracted form History books, church records, and what a few of his grandchildren can remember.
