Know Ye, That reposing special trust and confidence in the patriotism, valor, fidelity and abilities of Marvel D. Roper
I, in the name and by the authority of the people of the State of California, do by these presents Commission him Second Lieuntenant, Infantry
California National Guard
to date from 3 May 1954.
He is therefore to observe such orders and directions as he shall, from time to time, receive from the Commander in Chief of the Military Forces of this State, or any other superior officer, according to the rules and discipline of war, and to hold said office in the manner specified in and by the constitution and laws of the State.
In Testimony Whereof, I have hereunto signed my name and caused the Great Seal of the State to be affixed, at the city of Sacramento, California, this tenth Day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and fifty four.
