Funeral Held For James N. Jones In Maeser Ward

Funeral services for James N. Jones, 82, were held Wednesday Oct. 6, in the Maeser LDS ward chapel under the direction of ward’s first counselor, Victor Bingham.

Opening song was by Caldwell quartet, “In the Garden;” payer was by Mark M. Hall; first speaker was Nathan C. Hardy. A song “Jesus Savior Pilot me,” was sung by a trio consisting of Evelyn Hacking, Edna Jones and Virginia Hacking.

Merrill Anderson spoke; a song, “Oh My Father,” was sung by the quartet; remarks were made by Victor Bingham, closing prayer was offered by W. E. Bodily. Payer in the home was offered by Wallace Jones, and the grave was dedicated by DeLyle Jones. Pallbearers were six grandsons, Bernarr, Marvel Roper, Bryce Wamsley, Lowell and Marcell Gray and Kendall Schaefermeyer.

Interment was in the Rock Point cemetery.

Mr. Jones was born Nov. 18, 1864, in Marysville, Piute county. He was married to Mary Ann Bodily Nov. 14, 1887. She preceded him in death in 1929.

He is the father of 11 children, nine of whom survived: Mrs. Ross Roper, Mrs. Earl Wamsley, Stanley N. Jones, Mareellace (Marcellace) Jones, Mrs. Clarence Searle of Vernal, Wallace Jones of Ogden, Owen E. Jones of Layton, DeLyle of Bountiful and Mrs. Neal Schaefermeyer of Rossevelt; a brother, Isaac Jones of Manti; 50 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.

Those attending from outside points were Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Jones, Mr. and Mrs. Owen E. Jones and children, Nila and Gwin; Mr. and Mrs. DeLyle Jones and son, Doyle; Isaac Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Allie Carlston of Fairview; Mrs. Paul Wilson, Mrs. Dee Wilson and Della Hepworth of Hatch; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Jones of Manti; Mr. and Mrs. John Hacking of Ft. Duchesne; Mrs. Clair Hacking and Mrs. Dallas Bodily and son, Verle of Lapoint. and Mr. and Mrs. Chris Bodily of Gusher.
